Memphis, the recipient of the 2010 Tony Award for Best Musical, will be recorded live-in-performance by Broadway Worldwide for high definition exhibition in digital cinemas nationwide this spring. The show will be recorded at the Shubert Theatre during regularly scheduled performances January 18-21.

Emmy Award-winning director Don Roy King and Grammy and Emmy Award-winning sound producer Matt Kaplowitz will lead the production team for Broadway Worldwide. Details about the national theatrical exhibition schedule will be announced in the spring.

Memphis is based on a concept by George W. George and features a book by Joe DiPietro and music and lyrics by Bon Jovi founding member David Bryan. Set in the segregated South of the 1950s, the show follows the fictionalized life story of white radio disc jockey Huey Calhoon, who falls in love with both rock & roll and an electrifying black singer, Felicia Farrell.

The production features direction by Christopher Ashley and choreography by Sergio Trujillo. The creative team includes David Gallo (scenic design), Paul Tazewell (costume design), Howell Binkley (lighting design) and Ken Travis (sound design).

The cast is led by 2010 Tony nominees Chad Kimball (Huey) and Montego Glover (Felicia), and also features Derrick Baskin (Gator), J. Bernard Calloway (Delray), James Monroe Iglehart (Bobby), Michael McGrath (Mr. Simmons), and Cass Morgan (Mama).
