Broadway's Future Jean Valjean Ramin Karimloo Meets the Original 24601
Original Jean Valjean Colm Wilkinson shared the stage with Karimloo in a Toronto performance of ''Les Misérables''.
Jean Valjeans of Les Misérables productions past and future met on Saturday, January 11, at the Prince of Wales Theatre in Toronto. Tony nominee Colm Wilkinson, who starred in the original London and Broadway productions as the ex-convict, made a special guest appearance as the Bishop in the Toronto production. Ramin Karimloo, who currently plays Jean Valjean, will soon take the role that Wilkinson originated to Broadway in Cameron Mackintosh's upcoming revival.
The performance benefited five Toronto charities: Casey House, Covenant House, Ernestine's, The Franciscan Missionary Sisters for Africa, and Theatre 20. In honor of the special occasion, Wilkinson and Karimloo closed the show with a special curtain call duet of Valjean's signature number, "Bring Him Home."
