Broadway Workshop’s 2nd Annual Children’s Musical Theater Festival will showcase two plays, The Grunch by Denver Casado and Betina Hershey with additional material by Brian Dawson and Vote: The Musical by Ryann Ferguson and Steven Jamail. The event is this weekend, July 21-22, at the Baruch Performing Arts Center’s Nagelberg Theatre.

The Children’s Musical Theater Festival brings together 60 theater-loving children from around the world in order to encourage young aspiring actors. They are showcasing two family-friendly musicals this year.

The Grunch, inspired by Dr. Seuss’ notable character, tells the story of Robert Grunch, a 6th grader who has always felt like an outsider and his plan to ruin the school musical. See if he succeeds on Saturday, July 21 at 3pm and Sunday, July 22 at 1pm.

Vote: The Musical is a show about the electoral process through the perspective of three high school seniors–some whom that will stop at nothing to win the position of student council president. This musical takes place on Saturday, July 21 at 8pm and Sunday, July 22 at 6pm.
