Broadway League Announces $943.3 Million Record-Breaking 2008-2009 Season

The Broadway League has released end-of season statistics for the 2008-2009 season, which grossed a record-breaking $943.3 million.

Cumulative grosses for the season — which ran May 26, 2008 through May 24, 2009 — were up 0.6% from last season, which came in at $937.5 million. However, paid attendance at Broadway shows dropped to 12.15 million, as compared to 12.27 million last season.

During the season, 43 shows opened — ten new musicals, eight new plays, four musical revivals, 16 play revivals, and five special performances.
