Recently, a private industry workshop of a new musical based on the HBO series True Blood was held in New York City, the New York Post reports.

According to the article, the new show features music by Nathan Barr, who scored the television series, with a book and lyrics by Elizabeth Scott (Living Dead Girl). Pam MacKinnon (China Doll) reportedly helmed the workshop.

The workshop cast featured Broadway veterans Claybourne Elder (Bonnie & Clyde) and Ann Harada (Avenue Q).

According to HBO, True Blood is created by Six Feet Under's Alan Ball, and "delves into the meticulously-crafted world of novelist Charlaine Harris," whose series The Southern Vampire Mysteries serves as the show's basis.
