Brian d’Arcy James and Brooke Shields to Co-Host 57th Annual Drama Desk Awards

Stage and screen stars Brian d’Arcy James and Brooke Shields will co-host The 57th Annual Drama Desk Awards, which will take place on Sunday, June 3 at 8pm at The Town Hall in Manhattan.


This year’s award show is being written by cast album producer, playwright, and two-time Drama Desk Award winner Bill Rosenfield and directed by multi-award winning director Mark Waldrop.


Executive Producer Gretchen Shugart, CEO of TheaterMania.com, will present the awards ceremony with Robert R. Blume and David S. Stone in association with Renee McCurry. TheaterMania.com has engaged Joey Parnes Productions to produce and manage the event.


D’Arcy James’ many stage credits include Shrek the Musical, Sweet Smell of Success, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and Port Authority. He currently co-stars on NBC’s Smash and is guest-starring on Showtime’s The Big C. He will also appear at 54 Below, June 26-30.


Shields’ many stage credits include The Addams Family, Cabaret, Chicago, Wonderful Town, Leap of Faith, and The Sound of Music. She is well known for her work in film and television, including Suddenly Susan, Lipstick Jungle, The Blue Lagoon, and Endless Love.


The Drama Desk was founded in 1949, and is the only critics organization to honor achievement in the theater with competition among Broadway, Off Broadway and Off-Off Broadway productions in the same categories.
