Bougere, Hope, Maxwell, Mullins, et al. Set for Richard III in New Jersey

Paul Mullins will play the title role the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey’s production of Richard III, September 12-October 8. Directed by actress Vivienne Benesch, the show will open officially on September 16.

Other leading roles will be played by Teagle F. Bougere, Roxanna Hope, Roberta Maxwell, and Kathleen McNenny. The cast also includes Jane Altman, Ethan Bothwick, Brian Cade, Josh Carpenter, Joel de la Fuente, Charles M. Kennedy, Jeff Pagliano, John Livingstone Rolle, Tim Robenbolt, Paul Reisman, John Seidman, Ian Stuart, and Tyler Woods. The production team is headed by Murrel Horton (set and costume design), Jane Cox (lighting design), David Maddox (sound design), and Rick Sordelet (fight direction).

Benesch’s directorial credits include A Soldier’s Tale, The Skin of Our Teeth, and Measure for Measure. As an actress, she has appeared in such Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey productions as Enrico IV and As You Like It. She was most recently seen on Broadway in After the Fall, and she won an Obie Award for Going to St. Ives.

The first performance of Richard III will be a “Pay What You Wish Night.” There will be discussions with the cast and artistic staff immediately following the September 19 and the September 23 matinees, and a pre-performance talk with Benesch is slated for Thursday, September 21.
