Black Nativity to Become Feature Film
The show, which was first performed on Broadway in December 1961, is a retelling of the Bible’s nativity story with an all-black cast and features traditional Christmas carols sung in gospel style. The show was produced by Classical Theatre of Harlem in New York in 2007 and has had numerous regional productions in recent years.
Lemmons, who is also an actress, previously helmed the films Eve’s Bayou, The Caveman’s Valentine, and Talk to Me.
