Billy Elliot’s David Alvarez, Rob Ashford to Appear at Dance from the Heart Benefit

Tony Award-winning choreographer Rob Ashford will host Dance from the Heart, a benefit for Dancers Responding to AIDS, at 7:30pm on Friday, January 23 at the Cedar Lake Theatre (547 West 26th Street).

The evening’s participants are scheduled to include Billy Elliot star David Alvarez, American Ballet Theatre soloist Carlos Lopez, cellist Peter Sachon, and members of such companies as Les Ballets Grandiva, Battleworks, Dresden SemperOper Ballet, Paul Taylor Dance Company, and Pittsburgh Dance Theatre.

Ashford won the Tony Award for Thoroughly Modern Millie and received Tony nominations for Curtains! and Cry-Baby. In 2009, he will direct Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire, starring Rachel Weisz, in London, and bring his acclaimed production of the Alfred Uhry-Jason Robert Brown musical Parade to the Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles.
