Benesch, Carey, Long, et al. Set For STC’s Major Barbara

Vivienne Benesch, Helen Carey, Ted van Griethuysen, Floyd King, Andrew Long, and Tom Story will star in the Shakespeare Theatre Company’s production of George Bernard Shaw’s Major Barbara, February 19-March 23. The production, which will open officially on February 25, be directed by Ethan McSweeny.

Shaw’s story focuses on Barbara Undershaft (Benesch), a Salvation Army major who has long been horrified the arms factory owned by her father (van Greithuysen). When she gets offered a chance to work for her father, she must make a serious decision.

The cast will also include Leah Curney, Tiffany Fillmore, Catherine Flye, Jennifer Mendenhall, Kevin Kell O’Donnell, and James Ricks. The creative team features James Noone (sets), Robert Perdizola (costumes), Robert Wierzel (lighting), and David Madox (music composition).

McSweeny’s many New York credits includes The Best Man, 100 Saints You Should Know, 1001, and Never The Sinner. His regional credits include A Body of Water, Mr. Marmalade, and Wit.
