Becky Ann Baker, Malcolm Gets, Daniel Jenkins, et al. Set for Merrily We Roll Along in Cincinnati

The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park has announced casting for Stephen Sondheim and Geroge Furth’s Merrily We Roll Along, to run March 3-31. John Doyle will direct the production.

This musical, which is based on the 1934 play of the same name by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, moves backwards in time from 1980 to 1955 and examines the lives of three people whose friendship is tested by time, events, ambition and fate.

As with Doyle’s stagings of Sweeney Todd and Company, the ensemble will serve as musicians for the production.

The company will star Malcolm Gets as Franklin Shepard, Daniel Jenkins as Charley Kringas, and Becky Ann Baker as Mary Flynn, along with Jane Pfitsch (Beth), Leenya Rideout (Gussie Carnegie), Jessica Wright (K.T.), Matt Castle (Scotty), Bruce Sabath (Joe), Katrina Yaukey (Meg), David Garry (Jerome), Fred Rose (Tyler) Matthew Deming (Ru), and Ben Diskant (Frank Jr.).

The creative team will include music supervisor and orchestrator Mary-Mitchell Campbell, scenic designer Scott Pask, costume designer Ann Hould-Ward, lighting designer Jane Cox, and sound designer Dan Moses Schreier. Castle will serve as music director.
