Avenue Q National Tour to Play Chicago in May 2008

The national tour of the Tony Award-winning musical Avenue Q, will play Chicago’s Cadillac Palace Theatre, May 27-June 7. The tour has just officially kicked off at San Francisco’s Orpheum Theatre.

The cast features Robert McClure (Princeton, Rod), Cole Porter (Brian), Kelli Sawyer (Kate Monster, Lucy The Slut, and others), Christian Anderson (Nicky, Trekkie Monster, Bear, and others) Angela Ai (Christmas Eve), Carla Renata (Gary Coleman), and Minglie Chen (Mrs. T., Bear, and others). Rounding out the cast are ensemble members and swings Jennie Kwan, Maggie Lakis, Seth Rettberg, Erica Robinson, Danielle Thomas, and Cullen R. Titmas.

Directed by Jason Moore, Avenue Q features music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, and a book by Jeff Whitty based on an original concept by Lopez and Marx. The creative team includes Rick Lyon (puppet design), Stephen Oremus (musical supervision), Ken Roberson (choreography), Anna Louizos (scenic design), Mirena Rada (costume design), Howell Binkley (lighting design), and Acme Sound Partners (sound design).

The show originally played Off-Broadway at the Vineyard Theatre before opening at the Golden Theatre on Broadway on July 31, 2003. It won Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Original Score, and Best Book of a Musical.
