Audra McDonald Concert Will Be Season Finale of PBS's Live From Lincoln Center
The five-time Tony Award winner will play a one-night-only concert at Avery Fisher Hall.
Five-time Tony Award Winner Audra McDonald (The Gershwins' Porgy & Bess) will perform a special concert at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall on Thursday, May 9 at 7PM. Audra McDonald In Concert: Go Back Home will feature songs from McDonald's forthcoming album, Go Back Home, as well as some of her old favorites. The concert will be broadcast on Friday, May 24 at 9PM (ET) as the 38th season finale of the Emmy Award-winning PBS series, Live From Lincoln Center.
Only two other people share the distinction of having won five Tony Awards, Julie Harris and Angela Lansbury. And considering McDonald is 45 years their junior, she has plenty of time to claim more.
Go Back Home, which is set to drop May 21, is McDonald's first solo album in seven years. It features an eclectic mix of musical theater songs from Kander & Ebb, Stephen Sondheim, Adam Guettel, and Rodgers & Hammerstein among others. We're particularly excited to hear her rendition of "Eidelweiss" from The Sound of Music. Will she lead the Avery Fisher in song while strumming an acoustic guitar, just like Captain Von Trapp? You'll just have to tune in to PBS on May 24 to find out.
