Arin Arbus, Lisa Ramirez, Erica Schmidt, et al. Set for Working Theater's 2011 season logo

Working Theater has announced the projects that will comprise its 2011 season, to run January - June at Theatre Row.

The company will open the year with a production of Stefanie Zadravec's Honey Brown Eyes. Set in Bosnia in 1992, the play investigates the lengths ordinary people will go to survive a brutal war. Erica Schmidt will direct the piece, scheduled to begin performances in January.

Also on the theater's agenda are work-in-progress presentations of Lisa Ramirez's The Poultry Play, to be directed by Lisa Peterson; and Manuel Borras' Song to a Child Like Me, to be directed by Arin Arbus. Additionally, the Working Theater plans to offer developmental readings of Rob Ackerman's Call Me Waldo, directed by Tamilla Woodard, and Chay Yew's Visible Cities. During the coming year, the company will also begin a new project with performer André De Shields.

In related news, the theater has announced that Mark Plesent, currently producing director, will assume the new title of producing artistic director, effective immediately and Laura Smith, currently director of special events and marketing, will assume the role of managing director. In addition, playwright and actress Lisa Ramirez is being brought on as artistic associate.
