Antoinette Nwandu has been named the recipient of Vineyard Theatre's 2017-18 Paula Vogel Playwriting Award. Nwandu will be presented with the award at the Vineyard's annual Emerging Artists Luncheon on Thursday, November 9, at the National Arts Club.

Nwandu is the author of the drama Pass Over, which sparked a national conversation about bias in critical responses earlier this year upon its Steppenwolf world premiere. Her play Breach will receive its premiere in February 2018, and she is currently under commission from Echo Theater Company and Colt Coeur.

The Paula Vogel Playwriting Award is residency-based and given each year to an emerging writer of exceptional promise. It comes with a cash prize, work space, dramaturgical support, and collaborative resources to develop new work.
