Annette Bening and Morgan Freeman to Star in The Third Act Film

Stage and screen stars Annette Bening and Morgan Freeman will co-star in the film The Third Act, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Rob Reiner will direct the film, which will feature a script by Guy Thomas

Freeman will play a formerly famous western writer attempting to rediscover the talent that made him great in a small rural town. In doing so, he helps a local woman (Bening) find love once more.


Freeman last appeared on Broadway in The Country Girl. He earned a Tony Award nomination in 1978 for The Mighty Gents and his other Broadway credits include Purlie, and The Gospel at Colonus. He received an Oscar for Million Dollar Baby.

Bening’s many stage credits include The Female of the Species, Medea, Hedda Gabler, and Coastal Disturbances, and she is currently nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for The Kids Are All Right.
