The previously announced Broadway premiere of A.R. Gurney's Sylvia will open on October 15 at the Cort Theatre, producers have announced. Previews will begin September 25. Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan (Proof) will direct.

In Sylvia, a romantic comedy about a marriage and a dog, the world of a middle-aged New York couple is turned upside down when the husband brings home an exceptionally engaging canine running loose in Central Park.

The production will star new Tony and Drama Desk winner Annaleigh Ashford (You Can't Take It With You) as Sylvia, Tony Award winner Julie White (Airline Highway) as Kate, and Drama Desk Award winner Robert Sella (Stuff Happens) as Tom/Phyllis/Leslie, with additional casting to be announced.

The show's creative team will include scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Ann Roth, and lighting design by Japhy Weideman.

Sylvia first premiered in New York off-Broadway via Manhattan Theatre Club in 1995. That production starred Sarah Jessica Parker as Sylvia and Blythe Danner as Kate. John Tillinger directed.
