Anika Larsen to Star in Shafrika, The White Girl

Broadway veteran Anika Larsen will star in the autobiographical musical Shafrika, The White Girl, to play at the Vineyard Theatre, June 12-28. The show is co-conceived and directed by April Nickell, and features music by Tim Acito, Joshua Henry, and Janice Lowe, choreography by Luis Salgado, and musical direction by Karl Mansfield.

The musical tells of Larsen growing up in Cambridge, Massachusetts as part of a “rainbow family” of nine brothers and sisters of various ethnicities.

The cast includes Chloe Campbell, Anthony Comis, Joamer Gonzalez, Stephen Gelpi, Chris Harbur, John Harrison, Ricardo Hinoa, Amanda Hunt, Stephanie Martinez, Zonya Love, Liz Picolli, Elizabeth Racanelli, Eileen Rivera, Lawrence Stallings, Shelley Thomas, and Gregory Treco. The creative team includes Josh Zangen (sets), Andrea Varga (costumes), Herrick Goldman (lighting), and Mike Farfalla (sound).

Larsen’s many New York stage credits include Xanadu, Rent, All Shook Up, Miracle Brothers, and Zanna, Dont!. She also starred in the national tour of Avenue Q.
