Angela Lansbury will join the previously announced Jim Carrey and Carla Gugino in Mr. Popper’s Penguins, according to a report in Variety. Mark Waters will direct the film, which is being produced by 20th Century Fox.

An update of the 1938 children’s book by Richard and Florence Atwater, the film is about a New York businessman (Carrey) who inherits six penguins. Lansbury will play Mrs. Van Gundy, the owner of a local tavern that Carrey’s character is trying to buy. The cast will include stage veteran Clark Gregg, David Krumholtz, and James Tupper.

Lansbury earned a Tony Award nomination for her work in the Broadway revival of A Little Night Music this past season. She’s won Tony Awards for her performances in Sweeney Todd, Mame, Dear World, Gypsy, and, most recently, Blithe Spirit.
