Andrea Marcovicci’s Algonquin Engagement Interrupted Due to Illness; Heather MacRae to Fill In

Due to a hemorrhaged vocal cord, Andrea Marcovicci has been forced to cancel the December 2-6 performances of her show If I Were A Bell: The Songs of Frank Loesser at the Algonquin Hotel’s Oak Room.

Although she is under strict doctor’s orders to maintain vocal rest, Marcovicci will perform this evening (Saturday, November 29) with the help of several guest artists including Mark Coffin, Maude Maggart, and Barbara Brussell.

Marcovicci, who is celebrating her 16th year performing at the Algonquin, told TheaterMania that she is confident she will be able to return after one week of vocal rest. The Frank Loesser show is scheduled to continue until January 3; Marcovicci will then perform her Cole Porter show in the Oak Room from January 6-24.

The Algonquin has announced that Heather MacRae will present her acclaimed show Songs For My Father in lieu of Marcovicci’s missed performances. For information, phone 212-840-6800.
