Amy Wagner to Direct Phoenix Theatre Ensemble’s The Man of Destiny

Phoenix Theatre Ensemble has announced casting for George Bernard Shaw’s The Man of Destiny, to run May 6-16 at The Wild Project. Amy Wagner will direct the production.

The play focuses on the young Napoleon Bonaparte, who has just begun his infamous Italian Campaigne, and examines the battle of wills that ensues when a mysterious woman spy appears who has procured dispatches and documents that are integral to the campaign’s success. The company will feature Josh Tyson, Amy Fitts, Brian Costello, and Craig Smith.

The creative team will include Maruti Evans (scenic and lighting design), Susan Chesney (costume design), and Ellen Mandel (sound and music design).

In related news, the theater has announced it will present a staged reading of Armando Nascimento Rosa’s Mary of Magdala, a Gnostic Fable on April 12 at The Wild Project. John Giampietro will direct the piece which focuses on an underground railroad providing sanctuary from Roman persecution for Christians. The company will feature Elise Stone in the title role, Tyson, Costello and Smith, as well as Kelli Holsopple, Kathy Menino, and Joe Menino.
