Amy Spanger will once again play Roxie Hart in the Broadway production of Chicago, at the Ambassador Theatre beginning Friday, September 14. She replaces Tracy Shayne, who plays her final performance as Roxie on September 13.

Spanger previously played the role in 2002. Additional Broadway credits include her Drama Desk-nominated performance in The Wedding Singer as well as the original casts of Elf and Rock of Ages. She’s also appeared in Urinetown, Sunset Boulevard, and Kiss Me Kate.

Chicago also currently stars Terra C. MacLeod as Velma Kelly, Brent Barrett as Billy Flynn, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart and Carol Woods as Matron “Mama” Morton.

As previously announced, country music superstar Billy Ray Cyrus will make his Broadway debut in the role of Billy Flynn beginning Monday, November 5.

Chicago— featuring book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb — is set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, and centers on a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her.
