Amy Justman to Replace Melissa Errico in Stephen Sondheim's Passion Off-Broadway
Errico has bowed out of the production due to bronchitis.
Amy Justman (Company) has assumed the role of Clara in Classic Stage Company's revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Tony Award-winning musical, Passion, the organization has announced. Tony Award nominee Melissa Errico, who originated the role in this production, has not performed since March 21 and is currently battling bronchitis. Justman understudied the female roles in the revival, directed by Tony Award winner John Doyle, and will perform the role of Clara for the final 11 performances.
Inspired by Ettore Scola's film Passione d'Amour, Passion follows the love triangle of soldier Giorgio (Ryan Silverman), his married lover Clara (Justman), and the sickly older woman Fosca (Tony Award nominee Judy Kuhn) who pines after him. Also featured in the cast are Stephen Bogardus (Colonel Ricci), Jeffry Denman (Lieutenant Barri), Jason Michael Evans (Private Augenti), Ken Krugman (Lieutenant Torasso), Orville Mendoza (Sergeant Lombardi), Tom Nelis (Doctor Tambourri), and Will Reynolds (Major Rizzoli/Ludovic), along with John Antony.
A forthcoming cast album of the production, which was to have been recorded on April 9, will be released on the PS Classics label. A rescheduled recording and release date will be announced in the future.
