Amy Brenneman, Judy Gold, Jessica Hecht, Tonya Pinkins, and Annabella Sciorra will star in Annabelle Gurwitch's stage adaptation of her new book, I See You Made an Effort. The work will be presented March 10 as a one-night-only benefit for off-Broadway's Second Stage Theater.

Described as "the ultimate coming-of-middle-age story," I See You Made an Effort explores the hazards of turning 50, navigating department-store beauty-counter anti-aging offerings, dealing with teenage children, and lusting after your Apple Genius bar helper. Author Gurwitch will join Brenneman, Gold, Hecht, Pinkins, and Sciorra in performance.

Additionally, Second Stage has announced more celebratory offerings as part of its 35th Anniversary season. Director Niegel Smith will present his Upper West Side immersive-theater piece Adaptation, which guides audiences on a walk where theatrical experiences emerge all around them.

This summer, Bachelorette scribe Leslye Headland will curate a series of free play readings by writers under the age of 35, all of which will be free and open to the public. Finally, a series of private readings by Second Stage veterans, including Adam Bock's The Colby Sisters of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a new musical by Murder for Two authors Joe Kinosian and Kellen Blair, Carmel Dean's new musical A Girl Called Vincent, and Jonathan Marc Sherman's Women and Wallace, will take place through the season.
