Bret Easton Ellis' serial killing investment banker Patrick Bateman will come to Second Stage Theatre next year, when the off-Broadway company presents the American premiere of Duncan Sheik and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's new musical American Psycho. Inspired by Easton Ellis' 1991 novel, the production is directed by Rupert Goold.

American Psycho will begin performances in February 2015, with an opening in March. The musical, like the book and subsequent 2000 screen adaptation, follows 26-year-old Patrick Bateman, a handsome investment banker with a gorgeous girlfriend and a penchant for murder. The film version starred Christian Bale, Willem Dafoe, Jared Leto, and Reese Witherspoon.

Goold helmed American Psycho's world premiere at London's Almeida Theatre in December 2013. That production starred Matt Smith (Dr. Who) as Patrick Bateman, along with Ben Aldridge and Susannah Fielding. Casting for the show's Second Stage bow will be announced in the coming months.
