Alvin Epstein to Star in King Lear at La MaMa

The acclaimed Actors Shakespeare Theatre of Boston production of Shakespeare’s King Lear, with the highly respected Alvin Epstein in the title role, will play La MaMa ETC from June 16 through July 2. Directed by Patrick Swanson, the show recently received three Eliot Norton Award nominations, including a Best Actor nod for Epstein.

In addition to Epstein, who will play the title role, the show will feature its original 14-member ensemble, including Allyn Burrows, Ken Cheeseman, Benjamin Evett, Jennie Israel, Colin Lane, Doug Lockwood, Paula Langton, Sarah Newhouse, and Michael F. Walker.

Epstein’s Broadway credits include the original production of Waiting For Godot, No Strings, and the 1989 revival of 3 Penny Opera. He was most recently seen Off-Broadway in the Atlantic Theater Company revival of The Cherry Orchard and the Irish Repertory Theater revival of Endgame. He also starred Off-Broadway in the title role of Tuesdays with Morrie and is currently reprising that role at Seattle Rep.
