Alton Fitzgerald White to Perform Holiday Benefit at Triad December 13

Alton Fitzgerald White, who currently stars as Mufasa in Broadway’s The Lion King, will perform a holiday benefit at the Triad on Monday, December 13 at 7pm. The concert will feature accompaniment and musical direction by Doyle Newmyer with special guest Yolanda Wyns.

The event will benefit Shannon Tavarez, who formerly played Young Nala in The Lion King, and who has been diagnosed with AML, a rare and aggressive form of leukemia. Since her diagnosis last spring, she has been through extensive chemotherapy and has spent most of her days and nights in the children’s ward of a hospital in New York.

White’s additional Broadway credits include The Color Purple, Ragtime, Miss Saigon, Smokey Joe’s Café, and The Who’s Tommy. He has also performed the role of Mufas in the national tour and Vegas productions of The Lion King.
