All Broadway Performances Cancelled on Tuesday, October 30 Due to Hurricane Sandy

The Broadway League has announced the cancellation of all Broadway performances on Tuesday, October 30 due to the arrival of Hurricane Sandy and the government’s suspension of public transportation.

“Now that the storm has arrived, I’d like to reiterate that the safety and security of theatregoers and employees is everyone’s primary concern…We expect normal operations to resume Wednesday morning,” Charlotte St. Martin, the Executive Director of The Broadway League, said in a statement.

In addition to Broadway shows, almost all Off-Broadway performances and special events have been cancelled since the evening of Sunday, October 28, and most are also expected to cancel their October 30 shows.

The MTA, under the instruction of New York State Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, began an orderly shutdown and suspension of all subway, bus, and commuter railroad service at 7 pm Sunday, October 28. Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North Railroad, and other services have also shut down through the duration of the storm. No timetable for the resumption of public transportation has been announced.
