Alfre Woodard, J. Smith-Cameron To Join HBO’s True Blood

Stage and screen stars Alfre Woodard and J. Smith-Cameron will be joining HBO’s True Blood this season, according to a report on TVGuide.com.

Emmy Award winner Woodard, best known for her roles on Desperate Housewives and My Own Worst Enemy, will guest star as Layfette’s mother, who also happens to be Tara’s aunt. She was last seen on Broadway in Drowning Crow, and her Off-Broadway credits include The Winter’s Tale and A Map of the World.

Smith-Cameron has been cast in the recurring role of Sam’s estranged mother, Melinda. The actress’ Broadway credits include Tartuffe, Night Must Fall, Our Country’s Good, and Lend Me a Tenor.
