Alexander Brady, Jesse Marks, Julie Voshell, et al. Set for Gilbert & Sullivan, The Ballet!

Dances Patrelle has announced casting for Francis Patrelles’ new full-length dance work Gilbert & Sullivan, The Ballet!, to play May 12-15 at the Dicapo Opera Theatre. Warren Helms will serve as music director for the piece, which Patrelle has co-written with Justin Allen.

The piece centers on the creation and production of three of Gilbert & Sullivan’s most famous operettas, The Pirates of Penzance, The Mikado, and HMS Pinafore. The company will feature Jesse Marks, Alexander Brady, Julie Voshell, Amy Brandt, Therese Wendler, and John-Mark Owen, as well as select students from premier ballet schools in the NYC area.

The creative team will include Gillian Bradshaw Smith (scenic design), Rita B. Watson (costume design), and David Grill (lighting design).

Along with the casting news, the company has announced that it will present a special family-friendly version of the piece on Sunday, May 15 at 2pm, which will also feature a meet and greet with characters from the show.
