Tom Aldredge, Matt Cavenaugh, Helen Gallagher, and Dee Hoty head the cast of the upcoming George Street Theater production of Arthur Laurents’ play 2 Lives.

Directed by David Saint, the show will run October 18-November 13. Rounding out the cast are Joanne Camp, Jessica Dickey, Gerrit Graham, and James Sutorius. The production will feature set design by James Youmans, costume design by Theoni V. Aldredge, and lighting design by David Lander.

The play concerns Matt Singer, a playwright in his 70s who is working on a new script but whose weekend plans are suddenly changed by a shocking event. Laurents is best known as the librettist for some of Broadway’s greatest musicals, including Gypsy and West Side Story, as well as the author of such plays as The Time of the Cuckoo. He has won Tony Awards for the book of the musical Hallelujah, Baby! and for his direction of the original Broadway production of La Cage aux Folles.

Tom Aldredge, a five-time Tony nominee, has appeared in more than 20 Broadway shows; most recently, he co-starred in the Roundabout Theater Company productions of Twelve Angry Men and Twentieth Century. Cavenaugh starred on Broadway in Urban Cowboy and has been seen regionally in Carousel and Grease. Gallagher, a two-time Tony winner for her work in No, No, Nanette and Pal Joey, won an Emmy Award for her role of Maeve on the ABC soap opera Ryan’s Hope. Hoty is a three-time Tony nominee, most recently seen on Broadway as Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia!
