Al Pacino to Star in Broadway Transfer of Merchant of Venice

Tony Award and Academy Award winner Al Pacino will reprise his role as Shylock in Daniel Sullivan’s production of The Merchant of Venice, currently being presented by the Public Theater at the Delacorte Theatre in Central Park, when the show transfers to Broadway’s Broadhurst Theatre, for a limited engagement, October 19-January 9. The Public will co-produce the Broadway production with Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel.

Complete casting will be announced at a later date. The current production also stars Lily Rabe, Jesse L. Martin, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Marianne-Jean Baptiste, Hamish Linklater, Bill Heck, and Jessica Lind.

The design team will include Mark Wendland (sets), Jess Goldstein (costumes), Kenneth Posner (lighting), Acme Sound Partners (sound), and Dan Moses Schreier (original music).
