59E59 Theaters has announced the line up for the fifth annual East to Edinburgh Festival, to be presented July 8-27.

The festival was created as a way to help shows get on their feet before flying off to Scotland for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, which runs August 3-25.

The East to Edinburgh line up will include 7 Sins (July 8-13), a collection of true, fast, and funny stories from the life of writer/comedian James Judd; Jeff Kreisler ’08 (July 10-16), which dissects American politics and culture with passion, absurdity, and hope; Dirt (July 11-18), about a desperately alienated illegal Iraqi immigrant that sells roses and loves to speak English; Jonathan Prager’s Comedy Festival Encore (July 15-22), which brings the author’s unique comic insight and laughter to family life, relationships and political satire; Mythellaneous (July 19-27), which features a clown following Joseph Campbell’s famous concept of “The Hero’s Journey”; Queen of Wyoming (July 22-24), based on Boston-based singer-songwriter Maggie Simpson’s journey home to campaign with her father’s gubernatorial run in conservative Wyoming; The Judgment of Paris (July 23-25), inspired by the Greek myth in which the first ever beauty contest occurred; I Lost My Laugh in the Revolution (July 25-27), woven from the misadventure of a soul searching narrator, the silent longing of a passionate letter writer, and the trials of a young girl rebel; and Queen Rita’s Blues Alley (July 26-27), about the titular character’s journey from homelessness to thriving blues singer and club owner.
