2012 Williamstown Theatre Festival Announces Updated Casting

The Williamstown Theatre Festival has announced updated casting for its 2012 season.

The Festival will open the season by presenting a workshop of Here Lies Love, a new theatrical event created by David Byrne and directed by Alex Timbers, with music by David Byrne and Fatboy Slim, June 21-24 at the Hunter Center for the Performing Arts at MASS MoCA. Renee Albulario, Carol Angeli, Joyelle Cabato, Joshua Dela Cruz, Debralee Daco, Evan D’Angeles. Jose Llana, Ruthie Ann Miles, Maria-Christina Oliveras, Conrad Ricamora, Janelle Velasquez, and Zach Villa.


Tony Award-winner David Hyde Pierce will direct the first 2012 Main Stage production, Oscar Wilde’s classic The Importance of Being Earnest, to run June 26- July 14. The cast will feature Marylouise Burke, Louis Cancelmi, Helen Rita Cespedes, Sean Cullen, Tyne Daly, Glenn Fitzgerald, Paul McGrane, Amy Spanger, and Henry Stram, along with Charlotte Bydwell, Julian Cihi, Alexander Seife, and Ariana Seigel.

Three-time Tony Award nominee Kelli O’ Hara will star in Far From Heaven, a new musical by Scott Frankel and Michael Korie, with a book by Richard Greenberg and direction by Michael Greif, to run July 19-29. The cast will also include JB Adams, Nancy Anderson, Quincy Tyler Bernstine, Brandon Victor Dixon, Sarah Jane Everman, Alison Fraser, Chris Hoch, Mary Stout ,and Tony Yazbeck.


The final production on the Main Stage will be a new translation of Ivan Turgenev’s A Month in the Country, directed by Tony Award-winner Richard Nelson, to run August 1-19. The cast will include Louis Cancelmi, Jessica Collins, Sean Cullen, Kate Kearney-Patch, Paul McGrane, Jeremy Strong, and Elisabeth Waterston.

Blythe Danner will star in the world premiere of Lucy Boyle’s The Blue Deep, to play the Nikos Stage, June 27-July 8, to be directed by Bob Balaban, The cast will include Becky Ann Baker, Jack Gilpin, Heather Lind, and Finn Wittrock.


Jessica Stone will direct Neil Simon’s comedy Last of the Red Hot Lovers, July 11-22, with a cast including Brooks Ashmanskas, Susie Essman, and Lili Taylor.


Up next , Bradley Cooper and Patricia Clarkson will co-star in Bernard Pomerance’s The Elephant Man, to run July 25-August 5. The production will be directed by Scott Ellis.


The final Nikos Stage production will be the world premiere of Olivier Award-winner Katori Hall’s WHADDABLOODCLOT!!!, to be produced in association with Signature Theatre, August 8 – 19. The cast will include Tina Benko, Aaron Costa Ganis, Bryan Tyree Henry, Greta Lee, Andres Muner, and Kathy Searle.


The Festival will also present a free production of The Valley of Fear, based on the story by Arthur Conan Doyle, and adapted by Steve Lawson, at Poker Flats Field, July 18-27.
