2002-2003 Season at Laguna Playhouse

The Laguna Playhouse, located in Laguna Beach, California, has just announced the plays that will make up its 2002-2003 season.

With the exception of the season opener Always, Patsy Cline, the selected works will all be premieres of sorts. Jumping for Joy, Jon Marans’ tale of a prodigal son, and Mark Saltzman’s Mr. Shaw Goes to Hollywood, which speculates on meetings between George Bernard Shaw and several Hollywood legends, are both world premieres. Bernard Farrell’s Lovers at Versailles is a U.S. premiere. There will also be two West Coast premieres: the musical The Spitfire Grill, which recently played Off-Broadway, and Rounding Third by Richard Dresser, whose plays Wonderful World and Gun-Shy were both produced at Laguna in the recent past. A seventh show, which will open in January of 2003, has yet to be announced.

The Laguna Playhouse will commence its 82nd season on July 9. For tickets and information, call 949-497-ARTS (2787). Below is the complete schedule for the theater’s mainstage season, followed by a list of the shows to be presented at the Laguna Playhouse Youth Theatre:
