Veteran Broadway hoofer Tony Yazbeck (A Chorus Line) will join Tony Award winner Christian Borle (Peter and the Starcatcher) in the upcoming New York City Center Encores! production of Little Me, set to run for seven performances February 5-9, 2014. John Rando (A Christmas Story) directs the Cy Coleman, Carolyn Leigh, and Neil Simon musical, with Emmy Award winner Joshua Bergasse (Smash) serving as choreographer and Rob Berman as musical director. The production reunites actor Yazbeck with creatives Rando and Bergasse after their acclaimed revival of On the Town this summer at Barrington Stage Company.

Inspired by Patrick Dennis’ novel of the same name, the musical follows the story of self-invented celebrity Belle Poitrine, a woman who has spent her life pursing wealth, culture, and social position. Her seven lovers, ranging from a college boy to an octogenarian lecher to the dying king of a European country that may not exist, are all played by the same actor.

In this production, that actor is Borle. Yazbeck, who has appeared on Broadway in Chicago, White Christmas, A Chorus Line, and Gypsy, as well as Rando’s On the Town at Encores!, plays Belle’s friend, George Musgrove. Further casting will be announced in the future.

Sid Caesar starred in the original production of Little Me, which opened at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on November 17, 1962 and ran for 257 performances. A 1999 revival at Roundabout Theatre Company’s Criterion Center Stage Right starred Martin Short in a performance that won him a Tony Award.
