Coming off their recent turn as costars in The Mystery of Edwin Drood (for which both are nominated for a Tony Award), Stephanie J. Block and Will Chase are set to star in the previously announced Second Stage production of Little Miss Sunshine, a new musical comedy written by Tony Award winners James Lapine and William Finn (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), based on the 2006 film of the same name. Performances are set to begin on October 15, kicking off the company’s 35th anniversary season, with an official opening night to be scheduled for mid-November.

Chase will play the aspiring motivational speaker Richard Hoover while Block will take on the role of his wife, Sheryl. The musical will follow the pair as they and their children travel 800 miles from Albuquerque, NM to Redondo Beach, CA in a broken down bus to get to the “Little Miss Sunshine” pageant. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
