Tony Award Winner James Corden May Return to Broadway in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum

James Corden, who won a Tony in 2012 for his leading role in One Man, Two Guvnors, is in talks to return to Broadway next year as Pseudolus in a fall production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, according to published reports. Tony nominee Alex Timbers (Rocky) is in talks to direct.

Stephen Sondheim, Burt Shevelove, and Larry Gelbart's A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum is inspired by the farces of the Roman playwright Plautus and features classic Sondheim songs including "Comedy Tonight," "Lovely," and "Everybody Ought to Have a Maid." The musical was last on Broadway in 1996, starring Nathan Lane in the Pseudolus role.

In addition to his Tony-winning appearance in One Man, Two Guvnors, James Corden has appeared on Broadway in The History Boys. An English native, he has also appeared on the West End and in films including Gulliver's Travels and The Three Musketeers.
