Ethan Hawke, Gretchen Mol, and Jonathan Marc Sherman are among the artists who will take part in The New Group’s 2012-2013 season, featuring three world premiere productions.

The season will launch in fall 2012 with Francine Volpe’s The Good Mother, a psychological thriller which will star Mol as a single mother who must face her past after a bizarre incident involving her 4-year-old daughter. Artistic director Scott Elliott will direct the piece.

Hawke will direct and star in Sherman’s Clive, the winter 2013 production, inspired by Bertolt Brecht’s play Baal, and following the hedonistic rise and self-destruction of a songwriter in 1990s New York.

Concluding the season in spring will be Bunty Berman Presents…, a new musical set in a failing 1950’s Bollywood studio, by Ayub Khan Din (book, lyrics, co-composer) and Paul Bogaev (co-composer), directed by Elliott.
