American Opera Projects will honor Wicked and Pippin composer Stephen Schwartz as well as his opera Séance on a Wet Afternoon at the organization's 25th Anniversary Gala, Opera Sings Broadway Sings Opera, to be held May 12 at The Players.

The evening will feature performances by Broadway veterans Betsy Wolfe (Bullets Over Broadway) and Jessica Phillips (Leap of Faith), as well as Michael Marcotte and opera stars Lauren Flanigan, Anthony Roth Costanzo, and Simone Osborne.

Séance on a Wet Afternoon, developed by American Opera Projects, played a 10-performance run during the New York City Opera's 2010-2011 season. In addition to Wicked and Pippin, Schwartz is the coauthor of the musical Godspell and an Academy Award winner for his work on the film The Prince of Egypt.

American Opera Projects creates, develops, and presents opera and musical theater projects penned by young, rising, and established artists in the field.
