Melissa Errico, Judy Kuhn to Star in Classic Stage Company’s Passion

Judy Kuhn and Melissa Errico will star in John Doyle’s new production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Tony Award-winning musical Passion to begin performances at Classic Stage Company in February 2013. Full casting and creative team will be announced at a later date.


The musical, based on Ettore Scola’s film Passione d’Amore, focuses on a dying woman named Fosca (to be played by Kuhn), who develops a romantic fixation on a military soldier, Giorgio, who is involved in a long-distance love affair with the married Clara (to be played by Errico).


Kuhn played Fosca previously in Passion as part of the Kennedy Center’s 2002 Sondheim Celebration. She has been nominated for the Tony Award for her work in She Loves Me, Chess and Les Miserables. Her many other stage credits include Rags, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Sunset Boulevard, Eli’s Comin, and Two Shakespearean Actors.


Errico received a Tony Award nomination for Amour, and her many stage credits include Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, Finian’s Rainbow, High Society, My Fair Lady, Sunday in the Park With George, and One Touch of Venus.


Doyle won the Tony Award for the revival of Sweeney Todd and a Tony nomination for the revival of Company. His recent directorial credits include Merrily We Roll Along and Ten Cents a Dance.
