Resident Playwrights A.R. Gurney and Naomi Wallace to Present New Works During Signature Theatre's 2014-15 Season

Pulitzer prize winner and former resident playwright Sam Shepard will also present the U.S. premiere of his new play ”A Particle of Dread”.

Signature Theatre has announced the eight productions joining its 2014-15 season lineup, including new works by Residency One playwrights A.R. Gurney and Naomi Wallace.

The season will kick off in August with the U.S. premiere of Wallace's And I and Silence, directed by Caitlin McLeod, and A.R. Gurney's The Wayside Motor Inn. Wallace will present the New York premiere of The Liquid Plain in February 2015, directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah, followed by a production of Gurney's What I Did Last Summer, directed by Jim Simpson, in May 2015. Both Gurney and Wallace will conclude their residencies with premiere productions during Signature's 2015-16 season.

The company's 2014-15 season will also the feature works of past Signature Playwrights-in-Residence as part of its Legacy Program. The season will include the U.S. premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner Sam Shepard's A Particle of Dread in November, produced with Field Day Theater Company, directed by Nancy Meckler, and featuring Academy Award nominee Stephen Rea. Charles Mee's Big Love will then open in February 2015, directed by Tina Landau, followed by a premiere play written and directed by Athol Fugard, set for April 2015.

Katori Hall's world premiere production of Our Lady of Kibeho, directed by Michael Grief, will join the season in November as part of the theater's Residency Five program.
