Mx. Justin Vivian Bond, Everett Quinton, Peggy Shaw, Scott Wittman Set for La MaMa’s Spring Season

La MaMa E.T.C. has announced the lineup of productions that will play in its three theaters.

Among the productions that will play the company’s Ellen Stewart Theatre is Jukebox Jackie: Snatches of Jackie Curtis (May 24 – June 10), conceived and directed by Scott Wittman. The show will be a collage taken from the work of poet and playwright Curtis and will feature Mx. Justin Vivian Bond, Bridget Everett, Cole Escola, and Steel Burkhardt, and have musical direction by Lance Horne.

In addition, Everett Quinton will direct The Etiquette of Death (June 14 – July 1) in the Stewart Theatre. With choreography by Julie Atlas Muz, the piece will explore the nature of death, featuring work by artists such as Penny Arcade, Karen Finley, John Jesurun, Taylor Mac, Penny Rocwell, and Chris Tanner, among others.

Also scheduled for the Ellen Stewart Theatre are Theodora Skipitares’ Prometheus Within (April 13-29) and Bertolt Brecht’s The Judith of Shimoda (May 3-6), directed by Zishan Ugurlu.

Among the works scheduled for La MaMa’s First Floor Theatre is Split Britches’ 33 x 3 (April 19 -22), which will reunite Peggy Shaw, Lois Weaver, and Deb Margolin in a show that’s a mixture of both old and new material. This space will also see productions of Harry Koutoukas’ When Clowns Play Hamlet (May 24 – June 3) and Susan Mosakowski’s Escape (June 7-24).

Shows slated to play in The Club space include The Pi- Project (March 29 – April 1) a work based on Aeschylus’ The Persians and Geo Wyeth’s Haunts (June 1-10).

These productions, and others, will join a season that also includes the previously announced Obama 44 and the previously reported I Am Going to Run Away, featuring Poor baby Bree.
