Bartlett Sher to Direct Clifford Odets’ Golden Boy on Broadway for Lincoln Center Theater

Lincoln Center Theater (LCT) has announced preliminary plans for its programming in fall 2012.

The company will present Golden Boy, Clifford Odets’ look at a young gifted violinist torn between pursuing a career in music and earning big money as a prize fighter, on Broadway starting on November 8. Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher will direct the production, which is scheduled to open on December 3.

In addition, LCT will co-produce Christopher Durang’sVanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, a re-examination of Chekhov’s characters in contemporary Bucks County, in the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater, beginning on October 25. Nicholas Martin will direct the comedy, which will play McCarter Theatre in Princeton, New Jersey, September 7-October 7, before moving to Lincoln Center.

Casting, creative teams, venues, and other information will be announced at a later date.
