Brian Stokes Mitchell to Perform at NJ Theatre Alliance Ovation Gala

The Tony-winning Broadway veteran will lend his voice to a community of New Jersey theaters.

Tony Award winner and Theatre Hall of Fame inductee Brian Stokes Mitchell will perform at the 35th Anniversary Ovation Gala benefiting the NJ Theatre Alliance. The event, open to the public and held once every five years, will take place at the Pleasantdale Chateau in West Orange on Thursday, October 27, 6pm-10pm. Tickets can be purchased through the website here.

Mitchell was last seen on Broadway in Shuffle Along, or The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed. His Broadway credits also include Ragtime (Tony nomination), Kiss Me, Kate (Tony Award), King Hedley II (Tony nomination), Man of La Mancha (Tony nomination), and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. In 2016, he was presented with the Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award for his service to the Actors Fund.

Founded in 1981 by the five professional theaters that were operating in New Jersey at the time, the Alliance has grown to a membership of 33 professional theaters stretching from Newton to Cape May. Members include large and small theaters, with repertoires covering contemporary drama, classics, musicals, new works, children’s theater, and educational programming.
