The full cast and creative team have been announced for Paper Mill Playhouse's upcoming Broadway-bound revival of Can-Can, previously announced to star Kate Baldwin as Pistache and Jason Danieley as Aristide.
Joining Baldwin and Danieley in the featured cast will be Michael Berresse (A Chorus Line) as Hilaire Jussac, Greg Hildreth (Cinderella) as Boris Adzinidzinadze, Michael Kostroff (The Wire, The Nance) as Jean-Louis, Mark Price (Mary Poppins) as Hercule, and Justin Robertson, who reprises the role of Étienne, which he performed in a 2007 production at Pasadena Playhouse.
The ensemble will also include Mike Baerga, Chloe Sian Campbell, Jace Coronado, Desireé Davar, Sarah DeBiase, Taurean Everett, Sarah Marie Jenkins, Evan Kasprzak, Jenny Laroche, Kate Marilley, Michael McArthur, Sarah Meahl, Peter Nelson, Tally Sessions, Molly Tynes, and Ryan Worsing.
Set in 1893, the musical follows Pistache (Baldwin), who decides to feature the scandalous Can-Can dance in her dance hall. Judge Forestier (Danieley), however, threatens to close down her establishment if she defies the law.
Can-Can debuted on Broadway in 1953 and starred Lilo and Peter Cookson as Pistache and Aristide, with direction by Burrows. The new production features direction by David Lee (Frasier, Cheers) and choreography by Patti Colombo, with a recrafted script by Joel Fields (Ugly Betty) and David Lee. The musical includes several of composer Cole Porter's classic tunes including "I Love Paris," "C'est Magnifique," "It's All Right With Me," and more.
The creative team will feature scenic design by Rob Bissinger, costume design by Ann Hould-Ward, lighting design by Michael Gilliam, sound design by Randy Hansen, hair/wig/makeup design by Rob Greene and J. Jared Janas, fight direction by Tim Weske, as well as music direction, arrangements, and orchestrations by Steve Orich.
Performances will begin October 1 in advance of an October 5 opening and will run through October 26.
