Charles Durning to Star in An Affirmative Act Film

Tony Award winner Charles Durning will star in the feature film An Affirmative Act, written and produced by Kenneth Del Vecchio. Jana Mattioli is set to direct, and the movie will premiere at the Hoboken International Film Festival in June 2010.

The film is billed as the first-ever courtroom drama about the legalization of Gay Marriage. It will also feature Blanch Baker, Robert Clohessy, Justin Deas, Randy Jones, Costas Mandylor, Jackie Martling, and Tom Waites.

Durning received the Tony for his work as Big Daddy in the 1990 revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. His many other Broadway credits include The Happy Time, That Championship Season, Inherit the Wind, The Gin Game, and Gore Vidal’s The Best Man. He received Academy Award nominations for his performances in Mel Brooks’ To Be or Not To Be and the film version of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.
