Smokey Joe’s Café Joins the Long Wharf Mainstage Summer Season

The Grammy Award-winning musical revue features the songs of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller.

Smokey Joe’s Café: The Songs of Leiber and Stoller will come to Long Wharf Theatre‘s mainstage this summer, in a coproduction with Supreme Talent International. The show is scheduled to run from July 10-28.

Originally produced on Broadway in 1995 — receiving a Grammy Award and seven Tony Award nominations, including one for Best Musical — Smokey Joe’s Café is a musical revue that showcases the songs of writing team Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. It features 39 of their iconic pop songs from the 1950s and ’60s including “On Broadway,” “Hound Dog,” “Jailhouse Rock,” “Stand By Me,” “Spanish Harlem,” “Love Potion #9,” “Yakety Yak,” and “I’m A Woman.”

The production will be directed by A. Curtis Farrow with musical direction by John Bronston and Darius Frowner. The cast includes Vida Allworthy, Derrick Baker, Christopher Brasfield, Dawn Marie Driver, José Figueroa Jr., Ron Lucas, Jay Rivera, Famecia Ward, and Stevanie Anita Williams.
