The Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis has announced additional details of its previously announced celebration of the writer Christopher Hampton

The theater will present a production of Hampton’s Embers which will play in the Dowling Studio from October 9-27. Joe Dowling will direct the show, which is an adaptation of a novel by Sándor Márai as translated by Carol Brown Janeway. It tells the story of Konrad, who as a young man ran away from his best friend Henrik and Henrik’s wife Krisztina with no explanation. Casting and creative team will be announced at a later date.

The Guthrie will also present a conversation with former Georgia legislator and NAACP Chair Julian Bond (November 4 at 1 pm) in conjunction with its production of Hampton’s Appomattox, along with a variety of other discussions.
