Manuel Carbonell, For Whom South Florida’s Theater Awards Are Named, Has Died

Sculptor Manuel Carbonell passed away on Thursday, November 10, according to a report in The Miami Herald. He was 92.

South Florida theater’s Carbonell Awards are named in his honor, as he was the one who designed the bronze and marble award given to winners, and served as a grand benefactor of the program for more than three decades.

There will be a mass and celebration of his life held at the Chapel of Belen Preparatory School (500 S.W. 127th Avenue in Miami), on Friday, November 18 at 6pm.
